Many people think Palm Spring is a simple city for people to visit, relax and stay for a few days in luxury. Well, that is true because of the relaxing atmosphere and many great hotels and spas. However, Palm Springs has much more to offer than just luxury hotels. We take a trip out West to give you the best things to do in Palm Springs, CA.

Located in the Sonoran Desert in Southern California, whilst it stands alone in the area there are many great things to do both in the city and a short drive away. Here are our top picks.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

This is a must see activity for everyone visiting Palm Springs, the tramway takes you to nearly 6,000 feet in the San Jacinto Mountains. The views from the top are unlike anywhere in the world with you being able to see both forest and desert in the same trip. There are restaurants, lounges and even an observation deck at the top. Expect there to be snow during winter months, a different from the nice and warm city of PS.  Book in advance during the holiday periods, otherwise expect to queue for more than 2 hours to board the tram at the bottom. This is a great way to spend a day for all visitors, no matter the age.

Palm Springs Air Museum

The Palm Springs Air Museum is located next to Palm Springs Airport and offers a wide collection of aircraft for visitors to appreciate. There are many aircrafts used in the World Wars, Korean War and Vietnam War. The history that this place has is like no other in the area and is another must see attraction whilst visiting Palm Springs. For anyone remotely interested in planes and war this is a delight and one can spend hours here going through all on offer. The guides which are included in the entrance fee are well informed and know their history and facts well. This acts as a place to come and think briefly about all the people past and present that have served in the US Airforce. Well worth a visit.

Joshua Tree National Park

Visiting the desert might not interest many people but this is a fascinating place with beautiful landscapes and scenery. The Joshua Tree National Park is an oasis in the center of the desert and is not a far distant away from Palm Springs. This is a great place to visit if you visit P.S and is great to experience this national treasure.   The park is open 24 hours with a pass for a vehicle costing just $25 for entrance up to 7 days. The next time you make your way to Palm Springs you should visit the Joshua Tree Park. We recommend entering early morning, going on short hike and having a picnic in one of the many different areas. This is a great day trip for all travellers  including individuals  and families.
